THE BIG WEEKEND Makeup Tips

You are finally getting that chance to escape from the hustle of everyday life for a weekend get away where there’s no work, no phone and finally – where there’s peace. Whether you’re traveling by plane, train, or automobile, any travel comes with its own little stressors; and although far lower than that of everyday life, they do still exist. The most famous stressor of travel is that of “Did I forget anything?” and with most women that means did I forget anything that I will need to keep me looking fabulous.

Here are a few tips that will help you minimize that particular stressor and help ensure you have a fabulous looking weekend get away.

Your makeup bag needs to have a moisturizer, facial cleanser, foundation, pressed or loose powder, blush and bronzer, lipstick, lip liner, gloss, eye drops, mascara, eye shadow, and eyeliners. Pick a single color palate to work with so you do not have to bring two drawers of make up along with you, and coordinate your wardrobe accordingly. You can use one color palate and still achieve a dramatic evening effect that looks totally different then your casual daywear.

Regardless if your weekend get away consists of lounging at a beach all-day or playing it up on the town until the wee hours of the morning, or both, you will be thankful that you brought eye drops along. The beach will dry your eyes out and the nightlife will make your eyes red. Having eye drops along that you can quickly moisturize and zap the red out will be the perfect “picker up.”

If your weekend getaway consists of traveling by air, the night before apply a good moisturizer to ensure your skin is well hydrated before exposing it to the dehydrating effects of cabin pressure. Keep your lips hydrated through out the flight as well by applying a Vitamin C lip treatment.

If your time is scheduled close on your weekend get away with a lot to do, and little time to do it, keep your makeup ritual quick by applying foundation only where you need it. Remember, the darker your skin tone the oilier it tends to be, so use oil free makeup. Limiting where you apply your foundation lowers the chances of oil break through. Set your foundation with a powder that is the same color of your skin tone, use a powder that is translucent. Brush on your blush and finish with a coffee or copper colored lip-gloss.

Less makeup is more on your weekend get away and maximize on having fun.
