Love and Cherish your SKIN!

Ethnically darker skin has some higher ability to resisting sun damage. This protection comes from minute packages of pigment, or melanin, that are larger in black skin than in white. Because these granules act as a natural sunscreen, black skin develops fewer wrinkles than white skin as it ages. BUT it also shows bruises very easily. Ashiness/drynes and hyperpigmentation DUE to lack of exfoliation is something that happens to our skin. I think on the whole, it is true that black skin is oilier. Oilier skin types have few to no 'aging' wrinkles and has an over all glow.

I've learned that the oiliness of black skin, is related somehow a old Aunt Jemima myth. The most derogatory look for a black woman is a heavy, shiny face. It's a negative thing, a class thing. That myth does a lot of damage to black skin. Black women believe that and use harsh chemicals on their skin to compensate. I hear and see so many people still applying RUBBING ALCOHOL to their face to 'dry up bumps'...who taught them? It was their mothers, aunts, or granny. It must stop. When you apply harsh CHEMICALS it drys and HYPERPIGMENTS (stains/darkens/bruised) the skin with irritation, which can change it's color, and the damage can take a lifetime to fade.

Black skin is such an incredible canvas. White against black skin is startling. The primary colors against black skin delight the eye. But what's exquisite about the black race is that it has every representation of humankind, from pale alabaster skin to cafe au lait to ebony. BUFF to perfection and GLOW!!
